With the continuous glamorization of models and celebrities in the media that expose their enhanced "assets" so to speak, the plastic surgery market has benefited tremendously. Although plastic surgery has become very popular in today's society among men and women, one trend has recently presented itself within the last decade and has taken plastic surgery to new heights, and that is butt augmentation. For better words, butt implants or butt lifts. Yes, I would say the media deserves a round of applause for this new found interest, obsession and desire to have a larger derriere. And for those that are less endowed, new products such as butt pads sold at beauty shops and clothing stores have made there way from store racks to many women's undergarment dresser drawers. Women seeking a more permanent approach make up the increased numbers of butt augmentation surgeries accounted for in the United States. The American Society of Plastic Surgery reported that in the year 2000 butt augmentations were basically non-existent, and by the year 2010 experienced an increase with over 5,000 reported surgeries. I bet you are wondering that number does not seem as large as you would have thought. The key item to note is that 5,000 reflects the number of "reported" cases from hospitals and registered/accredited surgical institutions. This number does not represent the number of individuals that have went through the "black market" to receive surgical enhancements. Considering that the cost of these surgical procedures from legitimate hospitals cost around $10,000, and of course this surgery is definitely not covered by many insurance companies. There is no "butts" around it, if you don't have the money the only option is to wait or hit up the "black market." The black market for plastic surgery has indeed increased and provides illegal surgeries in homes and hotels. Surgical procedures are performed by individuals who are not doctors or either non-licensed. The increase in the black market has coincided with an increase in the number of deaths and hospitalized incedents experienced from women. In one story on the news a few years ago, a woman was rushed to the hospital where they found that she had been injected with caulk used for bathroom flooring in her buttom. The woman died. Some of the lengths that we go through in society to look like what we see in the media is costly. It costs us unbearable pain and in many cases it may cost us our life. Just because the media says that Jennifer Lopez or Kim Kardashian has a beautiful big buttom, does not mean your buttom or you is not just as beautiful. This is the mindset we as society need to take on when viewing the media. BUT...If you are considering to have plastic surgery, please do your research and PLEASE do not utilize the black market. There are many more shocking accounted incedents dealing with black market surgeries if you research on the internet. Know that there is "So much more than what you see..." do the research!
