Call for posts: Teens and Young Adults are more then welcome to pitch in

The plan outlined when the I AM not the MEdia team decided to restart writing blog posts was to have three posts a week, to be published every monday, wednesday and friday. On mondays we would have a little bit of information about what we do, on wednesdays we would have an opinion piece on different topics that are part of teen culture and lifestyle and on fridays we would open up to guest posts written to or by teens. Our main goal with the posts is to reach out to people and let them know who we are and what we do. More importantly, we hope that our texts help raise awareness for issues regarding media literacy, especially when it comes to teens and young adults.

The original blog plan changed to better accommodate our intentions, and we settled with two posts a week: one written by us and one written by teens. Which means we are on the look for vibrant and talented teens and young adults who feel very passionately about writing and are willing do contribute with a post or two. We feel that teens have awesome things to say about their lives and their experiences, and they should be more vocal about it. Their unique perspective on their own social practices can lead people to a better understanding about what life is for a 13 year old boy or a 15 year old girl nowadays.

We are accepting all kinds of texts, photographies and art. If you have a poem hidden inside your favorite book, a photography essay somewhere on your computer or a painting stashed in your garage, consider publishing it on our blog. If you have an article reporting on a school event, a personal recount on how it feels to be starting your senior year at high school or a opinion about how adults don't really get the importance of selfies in your life, we would love to publish it as well. All guest posts will be credited to the person who wrote it and sent it over to us and publicized in our social media outlets.

Given the purpose of this blog, we refuse to publish any offensive or disrespectful material. Make sure your material is age appropriate for teens and young adults, as they are part of our target audience.
