We decided to start every session with a survey to see what they already knew about the workshop theme and finish it with another, to check if they understood our message. The results of this assessments have been great, and here is one example.
Last week, on June 26th, we went to Marion, South Carolina, to perform our REP YOUR BRAND workshop. It is one of the workshops that had more requests in the last year. The session focuses on how you portray yourself in social media, and how it affects the way people see you. After all, nowadays it is key to understand the importance of self branding and start working that into your advantage. For instance, if you are a young adult looking for your first job, you might want to be careful about what you post and what sort of pictures you are tagged on Facebook. You don't want to loose a job opportunity because of something you have on your profile.
The comparison between our pre and post assessments showed that the workshop helped teens develop their own brands and understand the way brands may influence their decisions to support a product, a person or an idea. It showed that the number of teens that felt that their personal life effects their professional brand increased. They seemed to leave the room more skeptical about the media, since the percentage people who believes that their brands are not represented positively also increased. Overall, this workshop reached it's goal to improve the teens ability to understand the importance of self branding and how the media influences brands, something that we are very proud of.
